The Somerset Patriots have signed left-handed pitcher Daniel Herrera, who pitched in 16 games for the New York Mets in 2011.
Herrera also has major league experience with the Cincinnati Reds and Milwaukee Brewers. He last pitched in the majors in 2011 for the Mets where he finished 0-1 with a 1.13 ERA and five strikeouts in eight innings pitched.
In his three seasons with Cincinnati, he appeared in 113 games and had a 5-7 record, a 3.62 ERA and 66 strikeouts. He has a major league career 5-8 record, a 3.72 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 101.2 innings pitched in 131 games.
He has four seasons of Triple-A experience, most recently in 2012.
He spent the 2013 season in the Atlantic League with the Long Island Ducks, where he finished with a 2-1 record, a 5.03 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 19.2 innings in 23 games pitched.
