SHREWSBURY — Ocean State Job Lot will open its newest store June 7 at 179 Newman Springs Road, Shrewsbury.
Ocean State Job Lot is a closeout retailer headquartered in Rhode Island, with 113 stores on the East Coast.
The store is the first in the state for the discount retail chain, with other locations planned in Clinton and Sparta later this year.
A daylong grand opening is planned, starting at 8 a.m. when doors open to the public. Festivities continue throughout the morning with a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 10 a.m. by Shrewsbury Mayor Donald Burden and other local dignitaries.
There will also be free food samples and a chance to win a $200 shopping spree.
Ocean State Job Lot’s grand opening coincides with its “Silver Salute” senior discount program, which runs June 5-11. Shoppers age 62 and older — with a valid ID — are eligible to save 25 percent on many in-store purchases at all stores during the savings event.
Store hours are 8 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Sunday.
A truckload of approximately 40,000 pounds of shelf-stable food will be donated to the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties, Neptune Township, courtesy of Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation.
Founded in 1977, Ocean State Job Lot is a privately held retail chain with approximately 4,000 employees and annual sales exceeding $540 million. For more information, visit www.osjl.com.
