Acrylics explore ‘diverse’ views of abstraction

“Rhode Island Red” by David Levy “Rhode Island Red” by David Levy The Guild of Creative Art in Shrewsbury will host an exhibit that highlights the diverse nature of abstract art.

Acrylics by Annette Margulies of Long Branch and David Levy of Shrewsbury will be on exhibit through June 25.

Constant change and the emotional responses to them are at the heart of Margulies’ work.

“Expressing these emotions on canvas is irresistible to me,” she said. “Even though the result is an intense personal journey, the viewer is encouraged to react to, interpret and experience what is on the canvas.”

Levy’s paintings couple abstraction with architectural realism.

“I want my paintings to provide visual aerobics for the eyes, to entice the viewer to scan and measure and dis- cover patterns, appreciating the illusion of spatial depth while the paintings appear to be flat.”

“Promises to Keep” by Annette Margulies “Promises to Keep” by Annette Margulies The guild is located at 620 Broad St., where hours are 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday; until 7 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday.
