Rebekah Makin, a senior at East Brunswick High School High School, will host her seventh annual Alex’s Lemonade Stand 10 a.m.-3 p.m. June 14-15 at 7 Hillsdale Road, East Brunswick.
Proceeds will go to the Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF), an organization that works to find a cure for childhood cancer, funding more than 375 pediatriccancer research projects nationally.
Rebekah, 18, hosts the annual fundraiser in honor of her friend Tara Stout, who passed away in September 2007 at the age of 10 after a two-year battle with leukemia. Rebekah and Tara were students together at Hammarskjold Middle School, East Brunswick, and cheerleaders for St. Bart’s Buffalos.
Over the past seven years, Rebekah has raised more than $8,500 for ALSF, and it is her goal to reach $10,000 by the time she graduates from high school.
