I t is always nice to see our beaches and boardwalks come to life after Memorial Day, but we cannot continue to ignore life beyond the sand.
Far too many people are still struggling with the effects of superstorm Sandy, even a year-and-a-half after the storm. Drive a little farther out from the beaches, and you will see the abandoned, beat-up homes.
So many people have been forgotten by this governor. There is a bill called the “Sandy Bill of Rights,” sponsored by state Senate President Steve Sweeney, that would do the very little, simple things needed to help folks get back into their homes. The bill was passed unanimously in the state Senate and Assembly. The governor vetoed this common-sense legislation for some ridiculous reason, and now Sen. Sweeney wants to override his veto.
Please write to your local legislators and let them know you support the survivors of Sandy, you support the override, and so should they.
