Progress on a sanitary sewer service project for 40 homes in the southwest section of the township inched forward last week.
Sewers would be installed in a 30-year-old developed area of Camden Road, Winding Way, Spring Valley Drive and Euclid Avenue.
The Township Committee introduced an ordinance to appropriate $1.65 million for the sanitary sewer extension project by bonding for the bulk of it ($1,567,500 in bonds or notes).
The money would be paid by a special assessment on the homeowners whose properties would benefit.
The ordinance will be up for public hearing on Tuesday, July 22.
In December the township estimated the project would cost about $1.2 million to install the system and repave the streets.
Health department director Glen Belnay said all easements had been acquired by the township, and homeowners have selected the point on their property for the connection.
He said the township hopes to bid the project in September, choose a contractor in October and start construction in the two separate neighborhoods in November. Hookups would come in late spring, he said.
