The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Light the Night Walk 2014 Campaign

By Deirdre Sheridan
This fall, participants of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s 2014 Light the Night Walk will rally their forces for the annual campaign in their Central Jersey location! The event will take place on October 25th, starting at 5 PM at Forrestal Village in Princeton, New Jersey. We anticipate the opportunity to create a sense of community involvement in the Princeton area!
The 2-mile, leisurely-paced walk is open to all ages and abilities, and pets, strollers, and wheelchairs are welcome. Walkers register as individuals or on teams to raise money in the months leading up to the walk, and the walk will both celebrate their accomplishments and honor survivors, patients, and those lost to blood cancers. The event will include both public and private remembrance ceremonies.
Each year, in communities all across the United States and Canada, teams of families, friends, co-workers, and local and national corporations come together to raise funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s (LLS’s) Light the Night Walk events and bring help and hope to those battling blood cancers. Millions of consumers also help by donating at retail outlets. Light the Night Walk events are power, inspiration-filled evenings. During the walk, participants carry illuminated lanters—white for survivors, red for supporters, and gold in memory of loved ones lost—and thousands of walkers form a community of care, bringing light to the dark world of cancer.
Last year, more than $57 million was raised through Light the Night Walks in approximately 185 communities in North America. To form a team or to learn more, please call Shawna Santoro at (908)-956-6616 to visit lightthenight.org/nj.
