FLORENCE: Town funds improvements for municipal buildings

The Township Council unanimously approved an ordinance that will result in improvements to municipal buildings during its meeting on June 18.
”They will be going out to bid in the very near future to replace the skylights in the municipal building and to replace the Florence Township Library roof and also the ceiling throughout the entire library,” said Township Administrator Richard Brook.
According to ordinance 2014-14, the township has appropriated the sum of $470,000, including $23,500 as the down payment, for the improvements.
Mr. Brook said that the bond ordinance “gives Florence Township the capability to fund that work.”
According to the ordinance, the improvements to the municipal building and the Florence Township Library include but are not limited to roof and sky light replacement, structural repairs and repairs and replacement of interior elements (electrical equipment and lighting fixtures, flooring and carpeting, replacement of existing ceilings) and include all work and related materials necessary therefor or incidental thereto.
The ordinance was opened up to public comment during which one resident questioned the type of roof that would be placed on the library.
”Mr. Brook, is that a flat roof there,” asked resident John Lauricella.
”Yes it is,” Mr. Brook said.
   ”Pricey,” Mr. Lauricella said.
During the meeting, Mayor Craig Wilkie also announced that the council had the opportunity to tour the Express Scripts facility.
”It’s very nice,” said Mayor Wilkie. “It’s amazing to see the technology that’s there and they are on schedule and they are telling us they will be fully operational by the end of the year.”
They are going to have 750 employees, he added.
”They have to have pharmacists reviewing so it’s not like having one pharmacist handling the whole operation,” he said, adding that there are around 35 pharmacists, engineers and other types of assistants.
”It’s a high-end facility and very cooperative,” he said.
