Solebury Township police have arrested and charged a bicycle-riding man who allegedly assaulted another man on Tuesday, July 1, at about 12:30 p.m. along the canal towpath south of the Thompson-Neely House on Route 32.
Detective Cpl. Roy G. Ferrari said Tuesday he had charged Peter Markowicz, 56, who lives behind a gift shop he runs in New Hope, police said.
Detective Cpl. Ferrari said the victim, a 19-year-old from Newtown, Pa., picked the man out of a lineup. The victim described an Oriental-type symbol tattoo on his assailant’s upper left arm and Mr. Markowicz sports a tattoo, the officer said.
The officer said the victim was taking a break from his volunteer job at the Thompson-Neely House, a building in Washington Crossing (Pa.) Historic Park, and was walking on the path at lunchtime.
The assailant went by on a bicycle, and then returned, the officer said. As the man went by, he grabbed the genitals of the victim and made some lewd comments, the officer said. The victim went back to the Thompson-Neeley House and called police, Cpl. Ferrari said.
Mr. Markowicz is free on $25,000 unsecured bail, the officer said.
Anyone with identifying information on the suspect is asked to contact Detective Cpl. Roy G. Ferrari at 215-297-8201, ext. 111, or [email protected].
