ABERDEEN — The cause of a fire that engulfed a home on Riverdale Drive the morning of July 2 is under investigation.
A neighbor helped the home’s lone occupant escape the blaze that caused extensive damage to the home on the 300 block of Riverdale Drive, off Route 35, according to Aberdeen Police Chief John Powers.
The 83-year-old man was treated for dizziness at the scene.
According to Powers, police received a call at approximately 10:20 a.m. regarding the fire.
Detective Manny Carabel of the Aberdeen Police Department is continuing the investigation with the Monmouth County Fire Marshal’s Office, Powers said.
Responding fire units included Cliffwood Volunteer Fire Co.; Aberdeen Township Hose and Chemical No. 1; and units from Matawan, Holmdel, Keyport, and Hazlet. EMS units included MONOC, South Aberdeen EMS, Holmdel, Keyport, Old Bridge and the Monmouth County EMS Task Force.
