Police: Man sustains serious injuries in two-vehicle crash

SOUTH BRUNSWICK — A 30-yearold Mercer County man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash last week.

South Brunswick police responded to the accident at the intersection of Herrod Boulevard and Stults Road during the late afternoon of June 30.

The injured man was driving a 1997 Toyota south on Herrod Boulevard when it collided with a 2014 Chrysler minivan. The Chrysler was being driven by a 45-year-old man from Indianapolis who was headed west on Stults Road. The crash forced both vehicles off the roadway and onto the lawn of the Coaster Corp., police said.

The 30-year-old man was trapped in his vehicle for 30 minutes, while members of the Monmouth Junction Fire Department worked to free the victim.

South Brunswick EMS and paramedics treated the victim at the scene. New Jersey State Police Medevac landed at the crash location and transported the victim to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

The crash is under investigation by South Brunswick Traffic Safety Bureau Officer Frank Mongalieri. Traffic was diverted from the accident scene for over an hour, which caused extensive delays near Exit 8A of the New Jersey Turnpike.
