HAMILTON: Vehicle struck by gun fire

A vehicle located on Sandalwood Avenue had a bullet hole in the front grill and driver’s side mirror.
The owner of the vehicle told police that he was shot at several times while driving in the area of Sloan Avenue and Sweetbriar Avenue at 3 a.m. Sunday, June 29, according to the Hamilton Police Division.
Police towed and impounded the vehicle for further examination.
When the victim met with Detective Daniel Inman at police headquarters at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, June 29, to discuss the incident, he said he was traveling on Sweetbriar Avenue and felt he was being followed.
He told police that when he looked in his side view mirror he saw red lasers coming from an unknown vehicle. He further told police that he heard several objects hit his vehicle and then parked his vehicle on Sandalwood Avenue and called a taxi to drive him to his home on Grand Street in Trenton.
While attempting to locate the area where the shooting took place he told police he could not remember because he had been drinking and blacked out several times.
After speaking with the victim again on Tuesday, July 1, the victim did not provide any new information to police about the shooting. The victim could only recall that they were shooting at him all night, according to police.
As Detective Inman spoke with the victim, his account of what happened that night became more muddled with discrepancies, according to police.
While trying to piece together the events of that night, the victim decided he did not want to purse the matter and did not wish any further assistance from the police, according to police.
