MONROE: Police arrest alleged TD Bank robber (UPDATED)

MONROE — On Friday, police arrested the man they believe robbed the TD Bank on Prospect Plains Road yesterday morning, police said in a press release.
William H. Howcott, 45, of Freehold Township in Monmouth County, turned himself in to Monroe Police Friday after a further investigation with that township’s police department identified him, according to police
The Monroe Township Police Department responded to the TD Bank located at 162 Prospect Plains Road for a reported bank robbery at 8:47 a.m., according to police.
A white male subject described as being 5-foot, 6 inches tall with a thin build and olive skin, wearing a dark colored baseball cap baring a New York Jets logo, an orange T-shirt with the Carhart logo on the left breast pocket over top of a long sleeve dark shirt and dark sweat pants with white stripes along the legs entered the bank and approached the teller.
Police said he handed the teller a note and demanded money.
The teller complied, and after receiving an undetermined amount of cash, the subject fled the bank on foot heading west on Prospect Plains Road.
Police said that a weapon was not displayed during the robbery.
Mr. Howcott was charged with one count of robbery and was lodged at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center in North Brunswick in lieu of $75,000 bail with no 10 percent option, police said.
