Coffeehouse benefits Haiti mission project
Sat., July 19 — Coffeehouse entertainment and refreshments to benefit Princeton Konekte’s mission project to Haiti at 7 p.m. at Hillsborough Presbyterian Church, corner of Route 206 and Homestead Road. Fire truck, ambulance coming to summer fair
Sun., July 20 — Jump!Zone at 6 Jill Court, Building 23, is having its second annual summer fair from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A portion of proceeds will benefit Steps Together.
The fair will feature a fire truck and ambulance for children to explore, face painting, balloon animals, a dance performance and a tae kwon do demonstration. At 3 p.m. there will be a performance by Mr. Ray, children’s musician.
Flea market benefits fire company auxiliary
Sat., July 26 — Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Company No. 2 Fire Auxiliary will hold an outdoor flea market at 375 Route 206, next to Hillsborough Radiology and across from TD Bank. The market is behind the firehouse in the parking lot off Hamilton Road. Parking is on the grass behind the firehouse and in the upper parking lot. No parking at Hillsborough Radiology.
Flea market spaces are $15 each. Vendors can show up that morning and pay, with no reservations needed.

Local Democrats to hold campaign kickoff picnic
Sun., July 27 — Hillsborough Democrats will hold a campaign kickoff picnic for the Le/Beggiato campaign for Township Committee from 2 to 6 p.m., rain or shine, at the outdoor pavilion of the Polish Falcon Camp, 140 Falcon Road. There will be home-cooked barbecue, salads, drinks and dessert, as well as sports and games for the family.
Democratic county and Congressional candidates have been invited. Price is $25 per person, or $45 per family paid ahead; or $30/person or $50/family at the door. Checks may be made out to Committee to Elect Le and Beggiato and mailed to the campaign at 425 Willow Road, Hillsborough, 08844.
Golf outing boosts high school basketball
Thurs., July 31 — 10th annual Hillsborough High School boys’ basketball golf outing at Royce Brook Golf Club. 1:30 p.m. shotgun start. Player fee of $130 includes golf and dinner. If interested in playing or sponsoring the outing, call Coach Ian Progin at 908-642-2225 for information.
Job seekers group explains LinkedIn’s value
Wed., Aug. 6 — Jewish Family Service hosts a free support group for job seekers who are unemployed, underemployed or seeking a career change from 7-9 p.m. at 150-A West High St., Somerville.
The topic is "Everything you Always Wanted to know About LinkedIn, But Were Afraid to Ask" by Andy O’Hearn, communications advisor and coach.

Motorcycle ride raises money for scholarship
Sat., Aug. 9 — First motorcycle ride and BBQ fundraiser for Col. Stanley L. Lapidow Scholarship. Cycle ride starts at Lapidow residence, 14 Warner Drive, and ends at Manville Elks Lodge, 1500 Brooks Blvd., for food, beer, party, music and games from 1 to 6 p.m.. Rain or shine. Music festival plays Aug. 9 at Applebee’s
Sat., Aug. 9 — The Hillsborough Music Festival will beheld from 2 to 10 p.m. in the parking area behind Applebee’s off Route 206. Free admission. Benefits "My Son, Your Daughter," the Jonah Johnson Youth Scholarship Fund providing suicide prevention and anti-violence education in the community.
Rotary fair scheduled for six August days
Tues.-Sat., Aug. 12-17 — Rotary Club fair, 6-10 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, and 2-7 p.m. Sunday on field adjacent to Lowe’s in the Hillsborough Promenade, 315 Route 206. Food, rides, games, events, vendors. On Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday, buy a wristband and ride all night for one price. On Friday night there will be fireworks.
The fair is the major fund-raising event of the Rotary Club of Hillsborough and yields funds that are given back to the community in various ways.

Firefighters to host their Junior Olympics
Sat., Aug. 16 — Hillsborough Fire Co. 2 will host the annual Junior Firefighter Olympics at starting at 10 a.m. at its station at 375 Route 206.
School cheer team benefits from car wash
Sat., Aug. 23 — Hillsborough High School’s competition cheer team will hold a car wash fundraiser in the Applebee’s parking lot on Route 206 from 7 to 11 a.m. $7 per car. For advance tickets (by Aug. 15) or to make a donation, mail checks made payable to HHS Competition Cheer Team to 462 Township Line Road, Hillsborough 08844. Prepaid tickets will be mailed back.
Sourland Mountain will challenge bicyclists
Sat., Sept. 6 — "Sourland Spectacular" bicycle rally with challenging routes for serious cyclists, and shorter alternatives for casual riders. Routes of 23 to 63 miles all include significant climbs.
Routes begin and end at the Otto Kaufman Community Center on Skillman Road. Park across the street at Montgomery High School.
Following the morning rides, bikers will return to the starting point for a gourmet picnic lunch, with brownie sundaes for dessert.
Proceeds benefit the non-profit Sourland Conservancy. Fee is $40 per person, with discounts for early registration. Fee for ages 12 to 16 is $20. For registration and information, visit www.Sourland.org/spectacular.

Community theater — Somerset Valley Players presents a musical adaptation of the Robert Louis Stevenson classic, "Treasure Island," from July 18 through Aug. 3 at their theater at 689 Amwell Road (Route 514).
Shows are Fridays at 8 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 2 p.m.
Children can have a pirate-themed party at the theater in conjunction with the children’s production.
