Lambertville City Council was expected Tuesday night to vote on keeping the no-passing zone on the portion of state Route 29 that runs through the city.
The vote on whether the no-passing zone on Route 29 from South Main Street to Mt. Hope Street should be preserved comes at the request of the state Department of Transportation.
Also scheduled for Tuesday night’s meeting was a vote on a resolution pertaining to the preservation of 8 acres of city land, known locally as the McCann property, as open space. It’s near the intersection of Delaware Avenue and York Street.
The 8 acres are on two lots. If the council passed the resolution, as was expected, the city mayor and Planning Board chairman will be authorized to sign, for Green Acres, a note saying the McCann property is part of the city’s recreation and open space inventory. Green Acres is a state agency that works to preserve land as open space and to maintain those lands; it is supplying some money for the purchase and needs the ROSI paperwork to keep the process going.
The city’s North Union Street parking lot can get resurfaced if the council voted to approve a resolution on the work. Under the measure, Top Line Construction, a firm the city has hired previously, is to be paid $12,414 for the work.
Part-time city residents will be able to buy a parking permit from the city if an ordinance scheduled for a public hearing and adoption Tuesday night went through. Permits are needed to park on a number of city streets to ensure residents of those streets can find a place for their vehicles.
