VOICES is seeking additional talented singers with good reading skills for next concert season! Altos and basses are especially needed, but singers in all voice parts are encouraged to audition. A few openings in Sotto Voce, the chamber chorus, are also available.
The chorale, under the direction of Dr. Lyn Ransom, attracts serious amateur musicians from both New Jersey and Pennsylvania and performs an unusally varied repertoire, incl. choral masterworks and premieres by American composers. The music ranges from Renaissance to contemporary – from spirituals and show music to the sacred and classic. Besides concert performanes, singers also have the opportunity to share their talents with underserved audiences at assisted living homes, and to support the Young Composers Project for children ages 5 to 12.
Three major concerts are planned for VOICES 2014-15 concert season: "Christmatide," December 20-21, with selections from Benjamin Britten’s Ceremony of Carols, various carol arrangements, and three choruses from Handel’s Messiah; an Irish themed concert on March 14-15, with an Irish tenor and fiddler joining the chorale; and Mozart’s sublime Requiem in May.
Auditions are scheduled for August 18, 5:30-6:45 pm and September 15, 5:30-6:45 pm at Music Together, 225 Pennington-Hopewell Rd,(Rte 654), Hopewell, NJ. Other times available by appointment. Interested singers should contact the audition coordinator, Sandy Duffy, at 609-799-2211, or write to [email protected]. All auditions are informal and conducted in a positive and friendly atmosphere.
Rehearsals for the new concert season start again on Monday, September 15, 2014, at Music Together, 225 Pennington-Hopewell Rd, Hopewell, NJ 08525.
