Hillsborough police said a Weis Supermarket employee Richard Mackenzie, 23, of North Plainfield, was charged July 2 with theft by deception by allegedly stealing $680.75 worth of gift cards from the store.
He was released and given a date to come to court.
Police also said:
A Reed Road resident reported July 6 that the theft of fishing equipment from the outside of his residence, reportedly a month earlier. The total value of equipment was put at $1,815.
A Flanders Drive resident reported July 9 that a ladder, valued at $300, had been taken from his driveway during the daylight hours of the previous day.
An out-of-state resident reported July 11 that sometime in the previous day and a half, a pocketbook with various items valued at $450 was stolen from her vehicle, which was parked in the driveway of an Ebert Drive residence.
