POLICE BLOTTER: July 24

A North 4th Avenue man came to headquarters at 8:39 p.m. July 14 to report that his vehicle received one key scratch around the entire vehicle between July 10 and July 14 while it was parked on the street. Damage was estimated at $2,000.
Police reacted to a burglar alarm at Rhythm’s of the Night on South Main Street at 10:36 p.m. July 14.
Someone activated the alarm electronically so police knew someone was there, police said. Police found the cook there, they said. The owner, John Pettoni, came in and stayed there with the cook, police said.
Two transport drivers got into a fistfight near the security gate at Adesa Auto Auction on North Main Street shortly after noon July 15, police said.
The two men — one from Fairview and one from Jersey City — were told they could sign their own complaints. One of the men had an eye injury, but refused medical aid, police said.
A South Street woman called police at about 4 a.m. July 16 and said her cat bit and scratched her boyfriend, and he wanted it out of the house.
She called back to say police didn’t need to respond, and she would figure out what to do in the morning.
A caller reported finding a hypodermic needle at 11:21 a.m. July 16 on the CSX Railroad property near North 15th Ave. and North Street. Police logged the item and tagged it for destruction.
Police, fire, rescue and ambulance responded to a 75-year-old woman on the curb on Kennedy Boulevard with general weakness at 11:21 a.m. July 16. She said she hadn’t eaten in a couple of days.
A Huff Avenue woman said at 5:46 p.m. July 16 that sometime overnight, the screen to a front window of her house was damaged with an estimated repair cost of $50. The incident was put on the record.
A green Chevy pickup truck and a red Jeep were reported racing on Benjamin Street at 8:25 p.m. July 16. They were gone by the time police arrived.
A 28-year-old Manville man was found lying on the sidewalk at Brooks Boulevard and North 4th Avenue at 4:36 a.m. He said he was tired and had laid down.
Steve Jasinski, 26, of Hillsborough, was charged with shoplifting $56.59 worth of merchandise at Wal-Mart on North Main Street at 2:39 p.m. July 17 and was turned over to Franklin Township police on pending warrants for traffic offenses, including driving while his license was suspended, police said.
People were in Duke’s Park with metal detectors at 9:56 p.m. July 17 after the park was closed, police said. Told the park was closed, they moved on, police said.
A Whitehouse Station woman came to police headquarters at 11:47 p.m. July 17 to say she had had a call from a 35-year-old man who identified himself as from Manville.
He said he had the woman’s shortened first name programmed into his phone, and he wasn’t sure how he knew her, the woman told police. She told police she asked him not to contact her in the future, and he said he wouldn’t.
A Bonnie Brae Center employee said at about 1 a.m. Friday that a boy fled from the group while it was at the Reading Cinema. A senior counselor said they would report him missing in the morning with Bernards Township police.
Police reported to the VFW at 600 Washington Ave. to deal with an intoxicated 24-year-old man at 11:46 a.m. Friday. Police said he will be charged with disorderly conduct.
The owner of a vacant North 18th Avenue property said at 1 p.m. Saturday that a door and fence had been broken overnight.
She reported it as a forced entry and said a few objects had been moved, but nothing taken. A white-and-blue sailboat was retained for latent fingerprints. The neighborhood was canvassed.
A woman reported at 3:49 p.m. Saturday that someone stole her purse from her cart at Wal-Mart at about 2:30 p.m.
The purse had about $400 in cash, credit cards and her driver’s license. She came to headquarters later and said she had found her purse and items, and there was no theft.
A wallet reportedly was taken from the counter near the cash register at Camplain Liquors on Camplain Road at 5:48 p.m. Saturday. The wallet was valued at $50 and had credit cards and a driver’s license. Police said they had a suspect.
A man on the 1600 block of Brooks Boulevard said at 1:17 a.m. Sunday that someone threw a large rock through his front window with an estimated $500 cost to repair. The area was searched; no one was found.
A caller said four to five girls pushed a child down at 1:37 p.m. Sunday. She was crying, but didn’t want medical services and said she wanted to press charges. A juvenile was charged with simple assault.
Someone pushed over a large stone urn sometime overnight at Ketusky Funeral Home on Brooks Boulevard, it was reported at 2:10 p.m. Sunday. A concrete flower pot, valued at $500, was broken.
Josette Rodriquez of South Main Street was charged with possession of about $700 worth of stolen property at 4:22 p.m. Sunday. She was given a summons.
