ROBBINSVILLE — Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze in a vacant commercial building on Thursday afternoon.
"The two alarms were struck for manpower and because the fire was in a commercial building," said Robbinsville Fire Department Capt. David Horsnall. "The building was vacant at the time but Robbinsville Township Fire Prevention Bureau records show the building was once occupied by a commercial laundry service."
The fire broke out at 92 North Main St., Building 6, in the Windsor Industrial Park at approximately 2:13 p.m. on July 17.
"Upon arrival we found a 200 feet by 30 feet commercial building with smoke showing from the overhead doors," he said.
A hose line was advanced into the building where crews found roof insulation and the interior roof material on fire, he said.
Along with Robbinsville firefighters, fire departments from Hamilton Township, Hightstown, East Windsor Township, and the Middlesex County Fire Department assisted on scene.
The fire was extinguished within 20 minutes, he said.
"Crews remained on scene to ensure complete extinguishment and proper investigation by the township fire marshal to determine origin," he said.
No injuries were reported.
"The cause of the fire, after a thorough investigation, will be a contractor using a torch for roof repairs without a fire permit," he said.
