Leslie “Nick” Nicholson Jr., 68, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014, at his home in Millstone Township with his family by his side. Born in Jersey City, he spent his youth in Warren Township. He attended Zarephath Christian School and was a graduate of Watchung Hills Regional High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran. In 1985, he proudly moved his young family to their new home in Millstone, which he built himself with help from family and friends. He retired from Sonoco Fibre Drum in Carteret after working there for 30 years. Mr. Nicholson later drove a school bus with Garden State Transportation for the Upper Freehold and Millstone Township schools. He loved working outdoors and spent much of his time caring for the family property, including cutting firewood to provide heat and additional income for his family. Son of the late Leslie A. Sr. and Wanda Nicholson, and brother of the late Glenn R. Nicholson and Sally Ann Giordano, he is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Joann Nicholson (nee Stetsko); his daughter, Joy Jennifer Nicholson and her partner, Matthew Sakai, of Arlington, Mass.; his son and daughter-in-law, Leslie A. III and Catherine Nicholson of Alexandria, Va.; his sister, Wanda Wills and her husband, Al, of Guilford, N.Y.; his cousin, Barbara Black Parmeter and her husband, Ron, of Raleigh, N.C.; his sisters-in-law, Hope Bittan and Michelle Molina of Florida, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held July 17 at the United Presbyterian Church of Millstone, 211 Millstone Road, Perrineville, followed by interment in the Brig. Gen. Wm. C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Wrightstown. Arrangements were under the direction of the Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
