New Class of Water Main Enters Princeton

VOORHEES, N.J. (July 16, 2014) –  Old six and four inch, unlined, cast iron water mains that have delivered water to Princeton’s homes and businesses since the early 1900s are making way for new, eight-inch, cement-lined ductile iron mains. Along Dickenson Street, between Alexander Street and University Place; and on Random Road, between Roper Road and Poe Road, New Jersey American water is installing 2,450 feet of water pipes.
Work on the approximately $775,000 in infrastructure upgrades is in progress and is expected to be completed by October 31.
With the installation of new water mains, New Jersey American Water customers should experience increase water flows, continued fire protection, and more reliable water service. The water main improvements are part of New Jersey American Water’s multimillion dollar program to accelerate the renewal of water infrastructure that is reaching the end of its useful life in more than 100 communities across the state.
