Bob Caruso of Dayton, has cashed in two recent PBA50 Senior Division Tournaments in Fort Wayne, Indiana, according to the Professional Bowlers Association.
Mr. Caruso made the drive to Indiana after driving his 17-year-old daughter Amy to the Junior Nationals.
The younger Caruso also bowls for the South Brunswick High School Vikings bowling team.
In the Dick Weber Super Senior tournament, Mr. Caruso qualified for match play and finished in 10th place, after finishing with an 8-4 record in match play.
Mr. Caruso earned $1,400 for his efforts.
"I bowled well in qualifying and placed well," said Mr. Caruso in describing his efforts in the first tournament in Indiana. "The lanes were very difficult and that helps me because I am a good spare shooter."
In the following week, Mr. Caruso competed in the Pro Bowl West tournament in the same city, where he finished in 32nd place and was the final entry into the coveted match play round.
Mr. Caruso drew 10-time PBA Champion and Hall of Famer, Bryan Goebel.
Unfortunately, Mr. Goebel out-bowled Mr. Caruso in the five-game match 237-213, 180-206, 195-213, 267-236, and 201-189.
He technically finished tied for the 25-32 placements in the tournament.
Mr. Caruso collected $1,000 for his efforts.
Mr. Goebel went on to defeat Jim Starks of St. Bernardino, California before being defeated by eventual tournament winner and PBA legend Pete Weber.
"I have bowled in the PBA for the past 30 years and I do it for the competition and respect of my fellow bowlers," said Mr. Caruso, while driving home from the tournament.
Mr. Caruso had previously bowled against Hall of Famers Mark Roth, Johnny Petraglia, and Parker Bohn III, and PBA legends Tommy DeLutz, Ryan Schafer and Tim Criss.
