MANVILLE: Frank doesn’t file to run again for school board

Incumbent Valerie Frank didn’t file for re-election to the Manville School District Board of Education by the deadline today, Monday..
Three three-year seats will be decided this November. Only Board President Heidi Alles of West Frech Street and Jeanne Lombardino of Rabens Avenue submitted petitions to the county clerk.
Conceivably, a third person could be elected by write-in in the Nov. 4 election.
The contests will appear on the fall ballot separate from partisan positions, such as Borough Council, freeholder or Congress.
To become a member of a local board of education, a person must be a citizen, be able to read and write, have lived for one year in the school district, be registered to vote in the district before filing the petition, not be a member of the Township Committee and have no interest in any contract with, or claim against, the board, or be disqualified from membership because of the conviction of certain crimes.
