Canned Goods to be Collected at 4-H Fair

By Somerset County Board of Freeholders
BRIDGEWATER – Somerset County Freeholder Patricia Walsh urges 4-H Fair visitors to bring one or more canned-food donations to the annual event next week.
“The Food Bank Network is still extremely low on food supplies,” said Freeholder Walsh, who launched the ongoing “Buy One, Bring One” food drive four years ago.  “You can help by bringing a donation with you to the fair on Aug. 6, 7 or 8.  Two of our blue ‘BOBO’ bins will be inside the 4-H Information Tent, which is straight ahead as you cross the footbridge from the parking area.”
Look for the colorful “Please Donate” signs above the bins. Canned goods only are being accepted at the fair, since boxed items may not do well in the humidity.
Donations will be transported to the Food Bank Network, which currently serves some 1,500 families a month – double the number of clients it had last year.

The 4-H Fair will run daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Wednesday through Friday, Aug. 6 through 8, at the fairgrounds on Milltown Road.  Admission and parking are free.  For more information visit www.4histops.org
