Three seats on the new nine-member South Hunterdon Regional Board of Education will be filled at the Nov. 4 election.
In both involved towns, there will be contests.
These open seats (three-year terms) are held now by Lambertville’s Derek Roseman and Laurie Weinstein and West Amwell’s Viktor Paerg.
The deadline for filing nominating petitions to run for these three seats was 4 p.m. Monday, July 28.
Those who filed by the deadline are:
— City of Lambertville — Three-year terms. Vote for two on Nov. 4:
Craig A. Reading, 1 Alexauken Creek Road;
Derek Roseman (incumbent), 78 Delevan St.;
Paul Rotondi, 174 York St.
—West Amwell Township — Three-year term. Vote for one on Nov. 4:
Boyd Hartpence, 5 Hunter Road (Mr. Hartpence won a three-year term — for West Amwell — on the old South Hunterdon Regional High School board in November 2012).
Viktor Paerg (incumbent), 3 Big Top Drive.
Lambertville, Stockton and West have a new regional school district, and as a result, a new regional school board.
This new district, under the leadership of Superintendent Louis Muenker, has the responsibility of educating students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade in the three communities.
In December 2013, nine members of the new regional board were appointed by Gerald Vernotica, Hunterdon County’s interim superintendent of schools. Five of the members are from Lambertville, three from West Amwell and one from Stockton. That apportionment was "done statutorily," reflecting the populations of the towns, according to the 2010 U.S. Census, Dr. Vernotica said.
The five Lambertville members are Dan Seiter, Derek Roseman (who is running Nov. 4), Laurie Weinstein (who is not running Nov. 4), Nicole Claus and Anne Nicolas.
The three West Amwell residents are Celeste Mosby, Victor Paerg (who is running Nov. 4) and Peter Gasparro.
The one Stockton member is James Gallagher. The Stockton seat is not involved in the Nov. 4 election.
