The 2014-2015 school year is fast approaching and parents will be flooded with information. Here is a quick list of things parents need to know for the Cranbury, Monroe, Jamesburg and South Brunswick districts.
Cranbury: Notices will be distributed in the next few weeks about buses and times, said Business Administrator Joyce Picariello. Ms. Picariello said to remind parents that their children to be at their bus stops 10 minutes ahead of their scheduled time.
New teachers are Kate Rayder in special education and Heather Odman teaching fifth grade. Other teachers are set to be announced.
Summer reading can be found on the district’s website, www.cranburyschool.org.
Lunch prices are the same as last year at $2.90 for grades second to fourth, and $3.15 for grades fifth to eighth. Schools offer free or reduced lunch for those that qualify.
The Cranbury School is having a boiler replacement project being completed this summer, along with communications and security equipment.
For more information Ms. Picariello says to visit the district’s website at www.cranburyschool.org.
Monroe: Business Administrator Michael Gorksi says principals will provide parents recommended assignment lists for the remaining summer months, including reading lists and math assignments for students to complete before school begins.
Principals also provided parents a school supply list for the coming year. Mr, Gorski says these supply lists are intentionally and carefully reviewed by administration so to be sensitive to the costs.
At the end of summer, principals send a welcome back letter to all parents informing them of the first day of school, their child’s schedule and other important information.
Also, the Transportation Department sends parents bus route information for their kids and the bus safety flier.
All free and reduced-cost lunch information, and emergency contact information, is distributed to students in a packet on the first day of school.
Finally the superintendent sends to all staff a welcome back letter informing staff about any district capital renovations and work that was performed ensuring a smooth and successful opening.
For more information, check out the district’s website at http://www.monroe.k12.nj.us.
Jamesburg: According to new Superintendent Brian Betze, 11:30 a.m. will be the first lunch of the day at John F. Kennedy Elementary School and Grace M. Breckwedel Middle School.
No new teachers have been hired, but some are set for maternity leave, he said.
Both schools both offer reduced-cost and free lunch. He said there are no changes in lunch cost.
Parents can check out the district’s new website at www.jamesburg.org for more information. Also, parents can download the Jamesburg School District app on iTunes by searching for "Jamesburg School District."
