A s August approaches, the CVA Gallery at Brookdale Community College will feature 47 works of art that celebrate the summer season.
The title of this exhibit, “Honoring Summer,” was sparked by Howell resident Amy Puccio, one of the exhibitors. Her assemblages, made of discarded picture-frame moldings, conjure feelings of summer nostalgia.
Artist Elizabeth Sowell-Zak of Lincroft will present a gallery talk on her work at an Aug. 7 reception. On view are several large photographs and handmade sculptures from her series, “Journey.”
Maddy Cohen of West Long Branch has lent two diametrically opposed expressionistic pieces: the tranquil “Stream at Flood Farm” and “My City is Burning,” a tribute to her recollections of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks. — Marie Maber
