The 6th annual music festival will rock with a wide range of genre from 2-10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Hillsborough Promenade, 315 Route 206.
The festival will feature local bands, dancers, rappers, singers and fine artists playing 20- to 30-minute sets, as well as crafters and food.
The festival was created in 2008 by Donnetta Bishop-Johnson, founder and owner of the Allegra School of Music & Arts, to celebrate the talent of Hillsborough and surrounding communities.
This year’s festival is again co-sponsored by the Hillsborough Cultural Arts Commission.
The proceeds will again benefit "My Son, Your Daughter, the Jonah Johnson Youth Scholarship Fund," which is dedicated to suicide prevention and anti-violence education in local school systems, along with scholarships in the arts for post-secondary students.
Some of the festival proceeds will also support BoroSafe, a Hillsborough suicide education organization formed to address the problem of youth suicide.
"This is a great community event to benefit both BOROSAFE and the Jonah Johnson Youth Scholarship Fund," said Committeeman Frank DelCore, who is also liaison to the Cultural Arts Commission.
More information, as well as registration info for vendors and performers, can be found on the festival’s website at www.hillsboroughmusicfestival.org.
Volunteer opportunities are available for community service hours as well.If interested in volunteering, contact Yuri Marder [email protected].
