MANVILLE: School board member chose not to run again

To the editor:
I’m writing in response to your article in the Manville News onThursday, July 31, regarding your error in reporting that was made concerning my choice (not "failure") in not seeking another term on the Manville Board of Education.
In your article, you stated that I failed to file to run for another term. The fact of the matter is that this decision was my own choice due to personal family reasons. I have not only enjoyed serving on the Board of Education over the last three years, but have been proud and honored to serve for the children and residents of Manville.
I found it disappointing, and a bit unsettling that your newspaper never contacted me personally to inquire about why I had decided not to seek re-election, and the lack of professionalism by not obtaining the facts before printing the article.
In closing, I would like to thank all the residents of Manville for supporting and entrusting me with the important responsibility of serving on the Manville Board of Education.
