A joyride on Brunswick Avenue resulted in two 15-year-old Lawrence Township boys being charged with taking a motor vehicle without the owner’s permission on July 31.
A police officer on patrol observed a car on Brunswick Avenue around 2 a.m. that was being driven in an erratic manner. The officer stopped the car and when he asked for the driver’s credentials, he discovered the driver was under-age and had taken the car without his mother’s permission.
The 15-year-old driver was also charged with six motor vehicle violations. The two boys were released to their guardians’ custody.
A 12-year-old Lawrence boy and a 13-year-old Newark boy were each charged with theft for taking a bicycle from a Town Court North residence at 6:47 p.m. on July 31. The bicycle was recovered a short time later.
The victim saw the boys on the patio, and also saw them move one bicycle and ride off on another bicycle belonging to her. She followed the boys to another residence in the development. The boy got off the bicycle and fled.
The two boys were released to the custody of their guardians.
