Melding comfort with superior performance

Chevrolet is known for providing drivers with anything from heavy-duty trucks, SUVs, and sedans, all the way to no-holds-barred sports cars like the Corvette and the Camaro. But for those drivers who want something in the middle — that offers a little bit of everything — the new 2014 Chevrolet SS packs the punch of a sports car with the comforts of a sedan.
Starting at $43,475, the 2014 Chevrolet SS houses a 6.2-liter V8 engine that pushes out 415 horsepower and 415 foot-pounds of torque. Under the hood, the Chevrolet SS is a sports car, going from 0 to 60 in five seconds. Moreover, the six-speed automatic transmission and StabiliTrak Electronic Stability Control, along with the traction of a limited slip rear differential, work together to create one fast sport sedan. And race-proven Brembo four-piston brakes with aluminum front calipers and 14-inch rotors give the driver premiere braking power.
What really makes the new SS race inspired is its suspension. The stiff structure of the SS offers a rigid foundation for the suspension, which ultimately allows for precise handling and cornering. The sport-tuned suspension includes a front MacPherson strut-based multi-link system and a rear multi-link independent system that offers tight handling and control.
Princeton Chevrolet is anticipating the new Chevrolet SS hitting its dealer lots very soon. Sales Manager and car enthusiast, Anthony Blazier shares some things customers can expect from the SS. “The 2014 SS will be an all-new vehicle in the U.S.A. It’s a V8 rear-wheel drive sport sedan, built in Australia,” he said. “And it will be the first car that Chevy has produced like this since 2006.”
The exterior of the new SS is nothing short of aggressive. Strong and muscular lines sculpt the SS’s exterior, flowing into a sleek mid-section that helps manage airflow. The front fascia holds HID headlamps, and pronounced fender flares and a low, wide stance give the SS its sports car image.
“This car is made for enthusiasts who love the performance and acceleration that they get from a sports car, but also want the flexibility of something more practical,” said Mr. Blazier. “I’ve driven Camaros and Corvettes, but you can’t put kids in the back of vehicles like that. The SS is perfect for people who want a performance vehicle, need more space, but don’t want to drive something boring.”
On the inside, the SS has hand-wrapped soft leather appointed performance seats with suede microfiber inserts. The 10-way power seats are heated and ventilated, allowing customization for different driver preferences. Also, the SS combines infotainment, climate, and other controls on a tightly constructed one-piece module that gives the driver immediate access to audio, navigation, and other controls. Set on a large, eight-inch high-resolution color touch-screen, the system’s graphic interface features intuitive functions through its Bose nine-speaker premium audio system. Moreover, a three-inch color LCD screen in the center of the instrument cluster communicates information as well as warnings and messages. Finally, a color head-up display projects on the windshield directly within the driver’s field of vision to keep them informed of pertinent vehicle information without having to take their eyes off the road.
And furthering innovation and convenience, the new Chevrolet SS can virtually park itself. Automatic Parking Assist technology provides hands-free parking by accurately detecting an available parking space and working with the driver to steer into the space.
The Chevrolet SS offers something for the car enthusiast who doesn’t want to completely abandon performance for practicality.
“Performance is number-one with this car,” said Mr. Blazier. “It offers remarkable power in a practical car.”
