BUSINESS BRIEFS

CentraState Healthcare Foundation, Freehold Township, announced that it has received a $5,000 grant from the Amboy Foundation, a nonprofit organization in Old Bridge. The Amboy Foundation supports educational, civic, health, human services, social and cultural organizations in the communities it serves.

“Amboy Bank, through the Amboy Foundation, is committed to supporting local efforts that enhance the quality of life of the people who live and work in our communities. We have always considered community involvement to be an essential part of our business and we are delighted to support the CentraState Healthcare Foundation,” said Greg Scharpf, senior vice president and chief retail officer, Amboy Bank.

The grant money will be used to fund a LifeSkills Training Program (LST) for seventh and eighth-grade students at the Keyport Central School, and an LST Parent Program for the parents of the students. LST is a research-validated substance abuse prevention program that helps students develop drug resistance, personal self-management and general social skills.

The New Jersey Auto Retailers Unite campaign has raised more than $425,000 to date for the Valerie Fund. Consumers who test drive a vehicle at any participating dealership will receive a sweepstakes card. They can use this card to register for a chance to win one of two new cars that will be given away at a Sept. 14 gala celebration. Anyone who purchases a vehicle at a participating dealership will receive three chances. Almost 180 dealerships have signed up since June 1 for the campaign, which will run through Sept. 30. For a list of participating dealers, visit www.njautoretailersunite.org/dealers. Established in 1976 in memory of Valerie Goldstein, the Valerie Fund’s mission is to provide support for the comprehensive health care of children with cancer and blood disorders.
