Annual Fishing Derby, 9 a.m. to noon, Thompson Park, Monroe Township. Sponsored by the Monroe Township Recreation Department. Event is free and open to Monroe residents; children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must provide their own pole, but hooks, bobbers and worms will be supplied. Adults who wish to fish with their child must have a New Jersey fishing license. Prizes will be awarded and refreshments will be provided. Participants must pre-register by obtaining a form at www.monroerec.com and clicking Special Events. Fill out the form and mail or drop off at the Monroe Community Center, 120 Monmouth Road, Monroe Township 08831. Registration forms are also available at the Monroe Township Community Center. A Ride to Recovery, an escorted ride and street fair gala, to benefit Mike Nichols will be sponsored by the Jamesburg Elks 2180 MC at the Elks Lodge, 74 W. Railroad Ave., Jamesburg. Vendors needed for the street fair. Nichols, a Monroe High School ice hockey player, was injured last winter. Registration for the ride is from 9:30 to 11 a.m., kickstands up at 11:30 a.m. There will be a party at the Elks Lodge from 1 to 6 p.m. Cost for food and beverages is $20. Pianist Charlie Liu, 13, will give a "Rescue Concert" to benefit the Plainsboro Rescue Squad at 3 p.m. in Channing Hall, Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Princeton, 50 Cherry Hill Road, Princeton. The admission is free, donations appreciated and are tax deductible. The repertoire will include compositions by Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Chopin, Debussy and Rachmaninoff. Moreover, Charlie will perform all 12 etudes from the virtuosic Chopin Etudes Op. 10. Charlie began learning piano at age 4 and has been studying piano with professor Ingrid Clarfield of Westminster Choir College of Rider University since 2007. He has performed on the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" and on the "Oprah Winfrey Show," as well as for Queen Rania of Jordan, Bono of U2, and Alec Baldwin. He also performed at Lincoln Center and Merkin Hall in NY, to the Segerstrom Concert Hall in California.

Free Vintage Baseball will be played in the north pasture at 12 p.m. at the Dey Far, Federal Road between Perrineville and Applegarth roads, Monroe Township, sponsored by the Monroe Township Historic Preservation Commission.
