WEST WINDSOR — After an investigation by the United States Secret Service, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro’s determined its card processing systems, including the West Windsor branch’s system, were compromised, according to a press release Tuesday.
The Route 1 restaurant is one of 33 P.F. Chang’s with credit and/or debit card information stolen, according to the release, and was compromised from Feb. 21 through June 11. It is the only restaurant in New Jersey affected by the information breach, and no Pei Wei branded restaurants have been affected. Pei Wei is operated by Wok HoldCo LLC, which also owns P.F. Chang’s China Bistro.
The investigating team, including third-party forensics experts, "has been working continuously to understand the nature and scope of the incident," according to the release.
P.F. Chang’s said it first learned of a possible breach June 10 and began processing credit and debit card information securely starting June 11.
The company does not know specifically what information was stolen, according to a P.F. Chang’s website providing updates to the public. But the restaurant chain said card numbers, cardholder names and card expiration dates could be part of the information stolen.
According to the website, P.F. Chang’s does not have enough information to contact potentially affected individuals. The company has sent emails to its patrons and will update its website dedicated to the breach — http://pfchangs.com/security.
The Route 1 P.F. Chang’s had no comment on the situation, referring questions about the incident to the website.
P.F. Chang’s in Collegeville, Glen Mills and Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and White Plains, New York, also were listed as compromised locations.
P.F. Chang’s has set up a confidential hotline for people affected by the security breach. The hotline is available Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and can be accessed at 877-412-7152.
