   Chesterfield Township is seeking a seasonal part-time public works laborer. Candidates must be at least 18 years old with a valid driver’s license.    The Crosswicks Friends Monthly Meeting will volunteer at the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen (TASK) from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 8.    The Chesterfield Township Historical Society Museum Open House will be from 2-4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 10 at the Chesterfield Township Historical Society Museum on Ward Avenue in Crosswicks.    The Chesterfield Township Historical Society is planning a Chesterfield Heritage Day full of traditional crafts demonstrators, talks about local history, antique farm equipment displays, traditional local food and much more.    The Chesterfield Township Police Department is asking for volunteers for the Domestic Violence Response Team. Volunteers receive free training (40 hours) during which they will learn how to work with the police and provide information, support and referrals to victims at police departments. Applicants must be18 years of age or older, a resident of, or employed in the Burlington County area and have a valid New Jersey driver license and access to transportation.    The Chesterfield Township Historical Society recently opened its research library that was dedicated to long-time township historian Mal Knowles. The research library has a thorough residential history of the township as well as local genealogical information and research aids (wills, vital records, etc.).    The Crosswicks Monthly Meeting has joined the reuse movement. They have just signed up for ShoeBox Recycling. They will be collecting shoes for reuse, spreading the message that worn is not worn out and hopefully connecting with people around the globe through the magic of a SoleMate note. Just like the old message in a bottle, only now the vessel is shoes. ShoeBox Recycling will send boxes to fill, pay for all shipping costs, and pay 50 cents per pound for good, reusable and re-wearable shoes that are collected. This collection will help the Monthly Meeting earn a little money while clearing out closets and sharing with those in need.    The Chesterfield Township Environmental Commission is participating in a recycling program for inkjet cartridges, toner cartridges and cell phones. These items will be recycled into usable products. The Environmental Commission receives credits for each cartridge and cell phone. They will use the credits towards reforestation, protection of our natural resources and ecological education for residents. Collection boxes are located at the Crosswicks Library, Chesterfield Township Municipal Office, Old York County Club and Country Pool.    The Chesterfield Township Environmental Commission is giving Chesterfield Township residents a chance to win a tree. Each month the Environmental Commission is featuring a particular species of tree and asking the Chesterfield residents to take pictures of the featured tree. At the monthly meeting the Environmental Commission will judge which picture is best. The winner will be contacted by email and will win a new tree to plant.
