Wine tasting to benefit Stockton Fire Company

Stockton’s 21th annual Wine Tasting, sponsored by Phillips Fine Wines, will run from 7-10 p.m. on Sept. 27, at the firehouse on Mill Street in Stockton.
Various wines will be featured from Phillips Fine Wines along with bites from the local area’s restaurant and catering community.
"This popular tradition offers a great opportunity to try new wines and sample cuisine from the ever-growing local food scene," said a spokesman.
Proceeds from this annual event go to support the Stockton Volunteer Fire Company and the Stockton First Aid Squad. These two organizations provide valuable public service, responding to approximately 300 calls per year.
This will be the first year that the event is sponsored by the new owners of Phillips Fine Wines, Paul and Jennifer Tilch.
Mr. Tilch grew up working in one of the iconic stores of the Washington, D.C., area, Silesia Liquors, which was founded by his great-grandfather and eventually passed to his father Raymond and Uncle Michael.
" Raymond and Michael instilled in Paul the importance of recognizing a customer’s taste and guiding them through the broad landscape of wines. Over the years, publications often have called Silesia Liquors ‘one of the best fine wine and spirit stores in the area,’" said the spokesman.
"I hope to continue our family legacy, while also enhancing the reputation of Phillips Fine Wines as a destination for unique and eclectic wines and spirits," said Mr. Tilch. He and his wife have settled in Stockton. They welcomed their baby son, Cullen, in March 2014.
A limited number of tickets will be available for this event. Tickets are $60 each, and can be purchased at Phillips Fine Wines on Bridge Street in Stockton, or by calling Marion at 609-397-1162. Cash or check accepted.
