Alleged California ‘Bloods’ found at hotel in Edison

EDISON — Township police apprehended two proclaimed Bloods gang members who were fugitives from California around 9:30 p.m. Aug. 5, according to police.

Officers launched an undercover operation after receiving information from police in Sacramento, Calif., about the men. Both were on the “Sacramento Police Most Wanted” list and were being sought for questioning regarding seven drive-by shootings in California, according to Lt. Anthony Marcantuono, supervisor of the Edison Police Department’s Special Operations Group.

The men were thought to be staying in an Edison hotel.

Detectives charged Richard McGee, 20, after seeing him leave the Extended Stay America hotel in Raritan Center and head into the Sheraton hotel across the street, where they took him into custody, police said.

Officers apprehended Anthony Jacob, 26, as he allegedly attempted to flee in a taxi, according to police.

Edison police charged both men with being fugitives of justice. They were being held at the Middlesex County Adult Correction Center, North Brunswick, awaiting extradition to California. No bail was set for either suspect by Edison Municipal Court Judge Gary Price, but Sacramento police set a $1 million bail for Jacob.

McGee was wanted by Sacramento police for allegedly carrying a loaded firearm. Jacob was wanted for allegedly possessing a weapon while committing aggravated assault.
