Julianna Nienart, daughter of Matthew and Cynthia Nienart in Hillsborough has earned her Gold Award, the highest award in Girl Scouting.
She had previously earned her Bronze and Silver Awards and the Gold Award is a culmination of 12 years in Girl Scouts combined with her love of horses and helping people. Her project was to build a run-in shed for Mane Stream, Inc. (formerly Somerset County Handicapped Riders) in Tewksbury. The nonprofit Mane Stream strives to help people with physical, emotional, medical and developmental challenges by having them ride and interact with horses.
Julianna’s project will help the organization keep one additional horse so more people will be able to have lessons and therapy sessions.
Julianna raised more than $3,000 to buy the materials for the shed by having car washes, bake sales, hotdog sales and a horse show.
Julianna graduated from Hillsborough High School in June and plans on attending Rutgers University in New Brunswick in September.
