Library hosts ‘Path to Knighthood’ event on Aug. 28
Kids are invited to take the challenge of skills leading to being named a knight in an interactive game for children age 5 and older at the Kingdom of M (also known as the Manville Public Library) to play "Knight Life" on Thursday, Aug. 28, at 4 p.m.
The series of challenges on the Path to Knighthood will take place outside the library and will include various physical activities.
Registration has begun. Register online at http://www.sclsnj.org by clicking on "Events", then "Manville," then the event on calendar. Or register in person at library.
Museum passes: Do you want to get out of sun and roam a cool museum? Go online www.sclsnj.org and reserve your free museum pass.
The museum pass program is limited to passes to the Guggenheim Museum in Manhattan, and the Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton Township.
Passes must be returned to the branch from which they were checked out. Please return pass promptly; another customer may have a reservation for the pass.
A library card must be in good standing (that is, not expired, with no fines over $20).
The late fee for all passes is $20 per day.
End-of-summer party: The library’s teen summer reading program is winding down. An end-of-summer party for children and teenagers will be held outside the library on Thursday, Aug. 21, at 4:30 p.m. Ask youth services librarian Linda Lewis for details. Phone 908-722-9722.
Reading this summer earned teens free tickets to a raffle. One Manville teen will win a Samsung tablet.
The summer reading theme was "Spark a Reaction."
Every Thursday at 4:30 p.m., teens may participate in a science experiment, and a teen craft will be offered every Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. In addition, the library will sponsor chess tournaments, movies and game afternoons.
Some summer reading events require advance registration. To find out how and when to register for events, check out the Somerset County Library System website at www.sclsnj.org. Click on "Events," then "Manville," then the event on the calendar — or register in person.
