Police blotter, Aug. 4-11
A South Greasheimer Street woman said at 6:16 p.m. Aug. 4 that she had found a purse belonging to a White Avenue woman, who was called and said she would pick it up at headquarters.
— A Washington Avenue caller said at 8:09 p.m. Aug. 5 that four kids were throwing things over her fence and into her pool.
— A Stonewall Avenue woman said at 8:15 p.m. Aug. 5 that a man called and said he wanted to fix her computer. Police told her it was a scam and not to give personal information.
— Kamal Najeeullah, 28, of Hillsborough was given a borough summons alleging public consumption of alcoholic beverages on South 5th Avenue and South Street at 11:40 p.m. Aug. 6.
— Police are investigating a burglary that happened at 4:25 a.m. Aug. 7 on Washington Avenue. Alarms sounded in the building.
— A man from Pasadena, California, reported his 2010 Mercedes Benz was not delivered by a transport company at 9:21 a.m. Aug. 7. The car was entered into the national crime computer as stolen. At 6:27 p.m. police were advised the vehicle was not stolen and the alert was canceled.
— Kieon S. Wright, 18, of Manville accused a 17-year-old Bridgewater woman with taking $250 from him in exchange for shoes at 4:04 p.m. Aug. 7. Police said the complaint was unfounded. During the investigation, Mr. Wright was arrested for obstruction, taken to headquarters and later released.
— A possible broken water main reportedly lifted the roadway 10-15 feet north of intersection of Knopf Street and North 8th Avenue at 6:53 p.m. Aug. 7. American Water Company was notified.
— A man called just before 8 p.m. Aug. 7 on South Main Street and said a 47-year-old woman from Manville was drinking too much and he wanted her to get help. She was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Somerset for evaluation.
— Christopher Polnasek, 56, of Manville was arrested on a Raritan warrant at 8:49 p.m. Aug. 7.
— Tomek Salamon, 35, of Bound Brook was charged with DWI, refusal to submit to a breath analysis test and failing to maintain lights on his vehicle at a stop at 1:45 a.m. Aug. 8 at Knopf and North Main streets.
— A woman resident on North 15th Avenue told police at 10:22 a.m. Friday that she believed cars in the Elks parking lot are watching her. She said a group gathers there every night and watches her and her house. Police checked the driver, who was from Manville, who said he was an employee of the Elks waiting for a delivery.
— Patrolman Ryan Steier located two vehicles with no license plates parked on South 5th Avenue and Pope Street at 4:07 p.m. Friday. The 1995 Ford Explorer and 1996 Ford Taurus were towed and the owner of both — a Pope Street resident — was notified.
— A car hit a parked vehicle on South Main Street at 12:12 a.m. Sunday, injuring the driver, Joseph C. Celmer, 29, of North Brunswick. Officer Christopher Morrison escorted Mr. Celmer to Robert Wood Johnson Somerset to begin to apply for a warrant to draw blood for alcohol testing. Mr. Celmer was charged with DUI and careless driving.
— Nicholas Landis of Manville was ticketed for driving while having a suspended registration after a motor vehicle stop at 10:21 p.m. Sunday.
