SOUTH BRUNSWICK: District prepares for new year

As the new 2014-2015 school year approaches, parents will be flooded with information.
Here is a quick list for the South Brunswick district.
Supervisor of Transportation Patty Bunnell said information on bus times will not be available until they print out bus passes at the end of the month.
In the meantime, Ms. Bunnell suggest parents check out the South Brunswick School District website at www.sbschools.org for school start times.
The South Brunswick Backpack policy at the high school, Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent Madeline Daniels said, students are permitted the use of non-wheeled backpacks during school hours.
Ms. Daniels said the township’s Middle School’s policy is that backpacks must remain in students’ lockers during the school day.
Ms. Daniels also said the Elementary School policy is that backpacks are certainly encouraged in the elementary schools.
While there are no restrictions, parents are asked to keep in mind the importance of appropriate size based on the age of the students.
Business Administrator Anthony Tonzini, Jr. said lunch prices are as follows for the district’s schools. Elementary at $2.30, the middle schools at $2.45, and South Brunswick High School at $2.60.
Mr. Tonzini also said existing families in the district could stop in now to pick up an application and return it in person for reduced or free lunch.
New Families will get the application online in September.
Mr. Tonzini also said new lockers at were added at Crossroads South Middle School, new windows were placed at Constable and Brunswick Acres elementary schools.
Some new interior and exterior doors were installed at Cambridge he said.
