SOUTH BRUNSWICK: Police investigate recent burglaries

The South Brunswick Police are investigating three residential burglaries that took place during the first week of August, according to a press release.
The burglaries, which do not appear to be connected, took place on Barbara Street, Hillside Avenue, and Marc Drive, police said.
In the Barbara Street case, a family had come home from vacation on Aug. 2 to discover the residence had been broken into.
The suspect was able to pull open a first floor window to gain entry, and reportedly stole numerous pieces of jewelry, police said.
The Hillside Avenue case took place on Monday Aug. 4 sometime between 3:40 p.m. and 4 p.m.
The suspects gained entry to the home by smashing a basement window and reportedly stole jewelry and silver flatware.
It is believed that the suspects observed the residents leave the home and then proceeded to break in, police said.
Several witnesses described the suspects as two black males in their 20’s.
One was approximately 5’09" dark skinned with dreadlocks down to his shoulder, while the second was described as being shorter and heavier, police said.
The third case took place in the overnight hours of Aug. 6-7.
A Marc Dive resident woke up around 5 a.m. and observed a rear window open on the first floor of the home.
Officers searched the residence and determined a suspect had pried a lock on the window and made entry into the residence during the night, police said.
The suspect reportedly stole cash, an iPod, and a purse from the residence.
In addition to the homes, police are still investigating break ins to several cars last month.
The suspects entered more then a dozen vehicles since July 3, and appeared to be targeting unlocked vehicles in townhouse and apartment complex parking lots during the overnight hours and stealing items such as radar detectors, GPS, and other electronics.
The most recent incidents took place in the Wynwood Complex the last week of July.
Additional cars have been entered in the Royal Oaks Apartment Complex and Whispering Woods Complex.
All three locations are just off Route 1.South Brunswick detectives are following leads in each of the cases.
