In the wake of the pending retirement of Ken Mason, the school district’s director of health, physical education and athletics, a 17-member committee is being formed to hold preliminary interviews with applicants for the job.
School district officials are seeking interested Lawrence Middle School and Lawrence High School parents, Lawrence High School athletes, and community members to serve on the committee. It will also include a school board member, two principals, two coaches, the director of instructional services, and a secretary from the athletics department.
The deadline to apply is Aug. 21. Applicants for the special committee will learn whether they have been appointed by Aug. 25. Once its members have been selected, the committee will meet two or three times between Sept. 3 and Sept. 12 in the early evening to interview applicants for the job.
Based on the committee’s input, candidates will be recommended for second- and third-round interviews with school district officials. The goal is to fill the position before Mr. Mason’s last day in the district, which is Dec. 31. He has held the post for 16 years.
Applications for the special committee are available on the school district’s website at www.ltps.org. For more information, contact Andrew Zuckerman, the school district’s director of instructional services, at 609-671-5410 or by email at [email protected].
