Lisa Stephan, 27, of Hopewell and Alfred Szasz III, 37, of Hopewell, have been charged in connection with the theft of a six-foot-long piece of copper wire, valued at $70, from a utility pole on Whitehead Road at 1 p.m. Aug. 6.
Mr. Szasz was charged with theft, criminal mischief and possession of burglar tools (gloves and a razor), and Ms. Stephan was charged with complicity to commit theft and possession of drug paraphernalia (a crack pipe and baggies).
A witness saw Mr. Szasz allegedly cutting down the wire leading to the utility pole while Ms. Stephan was standing nearby. The couple left the area on foot, and were apprehended by police while walking on the footpath in the Delaware & Raritan Canal Park.
A man passed off two fake $100 bills at the Pets Plus and Libby’s Liquors stores near the Brunswick Circle at 6 p.m. Aug. 7. He walked into the pet store and bought some items and handed the clerk a fake $100 bill. The clerk realized the bill was fake and the man fled.
Around the same time, the same man entered the liquor store and bought a bottle of vodka for $16 and paid with a fake bill. The store clerks were unaware the bill was fake. The man left with the bottle of vodka and change from the $100 bill.
Eiko Franklin, 20, of Princeton, was charged with shoplifting clothing worth $340 from Macy’s at 5:46 p.m. Aug. 8.
An employee of the Route 1 Diner on Brunswick Pike turned over a baggie full of marijuana to police that a customer had left behind, following a meal that the customer had eaten at the diner at 2:29 a.m. Aug. 9.
The man purchased $17 worth of food but only had $12 in his possession. He was $5 short of money to pay the bill. He got up and tossed a clear baggie full of marijuana onto the counter and left. The employee called police to give them the baggie.
Sometime between 10 p.m. Aug. 8 and 6 a.m. Aug. 9, a burglar attempted unsuccessfully to enter the Dollar Tree store on Brunswick Pike. The store manager discovered pry marks around the front door and a small crow bar that had been left on the window ledge next to the door.
Tyrell Williams, 27, of Hamilton, was charged with possession of California Kronic potpourri, which is a synthetic form of marijuana, at 9 p.m. Aug. 9 at the Howard Johnson’s Motor Lodge on Brunswick Pike after police responded to the motel manager’s request to have him removed from the motel lobby.
He was found to have an outstanding warrant and during a search, police found the illegal synthetic marijuana. He was taken to the Mercer County Corrections Center.
The windshield of a Caterpillar excavator was cracked, causing $300 damage, while it was parked at the former Mrs. G TV and Appliance construction site on Brunswick Pike between Aug. 8 and Aug. 11.
Taylor Davis, 20, of Ewing Township, was charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia (a grinder) on Brunswick Pike at 4:30 p.m. Aug. 11.
