The Belmar Arts Council will host its first fiber-arts exhibit, which will run until Sept. 26.
Highlighting the use of fiber arts as a process toward artistic expression, the exhibit will be held at the Boatworks Gallery, 608 River Road, Belmar.
Showcasing traditional and contemporary techniques and materials, the exhibit features original handcrafted works in basketry, beadwork, clothing design, crochet, dyeing, felting, knitting, needlework, paper, quilting, surface design, weaving and more. An opening reception will be held 5-7 p.m. Aug. 23. The public is invited to attend. Gallery hours are 1-5 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays. Extended summer hours are 1-7 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and 1-5 p.m. Sundays, through Aug. 31. Most of the artwork is for sale.
