The Rev. Kimberly Wildszewski, of Lambertville, has begun her tenure as settled minister at the Unitarian Universalist Church at Washington Crossing. She is the 10th settled minister in the 98-year history of the Titusville church.
The Rev. Wildszewski, 30, comes to UUCWC from the Unitarian Church in Summit, where she served for three years as assistant minister of congregational life. She was ordained as a Unitarian Universalist minister in 2011 after completing internships in community ministry and hospital chaplaincy and a fellowship in parish ministry. The Rev. Wildszewski earned her master of divinity degree from Union Theological Seminary in New York.
She said she looks forward to "connecting with the authentic people of this congregation who have made their vision for a more just, interconnected world known. I’ve been here for just two weeks and I am already inspired to be a better minister, to be a thoughtful participant of this community, and to offer my heart in all the ways that others have done for me."
The Rev. Wildszewski moved to Lambertville with her wife, Tara, after the UUCWC congregation voted unanimously in May to affirm her as its minister. She and Tara had their civil union in Lambertville in March 2013, seven months before they were married in the Summit church.
The Rev. Wildszewski follows the Rev. Charles Stephens, who retired in 2012 after serving UUCWC for 16 years. In the interim, the Rev. Jennifer Brooks guided as transitional minister while a committee conducted a national search for the Rev. Stephens’ permanent successor, what Unitarian Universalism refers to as a "settled" minister.
The Rev. Wildszewski’s first sermon of the new church year, "A People of Promise," will be on Sept. 14, and examines Unitarian Universalism’s covenant-based theology.
UUCWC is located at 268 Washington Crossing-Pennington Road, near Titusville. Services are at 10 a.m. Sundays through Sept. 7, after which UUCWC moves to a two-service schedule at 9:15 and 11 a.m.
