Distinguished alumni sought for award
The Education Foundation of South Brunswick Township Inc. is accepting nominations for the third annual South Brunswick High School Distinguished Alumni Award.
The foundation’s selection committee will consider the following criteria: the nominee’s outstanding accomplishments in his/her chosen field, demonstrated commitment to community, acts of service and positive impact on people or society at large. In order for alumni to be eligible for nomination, they must be at least 25 years of age.

This year’s selected award recipient(s) will be honored at the foundation’s annual gala to be held Oct. 20 at the Princeton Doubletree hotel in South Brunswick.
The deadline for submission is Sept. 5.

Preschool program open to youngsters
The North Brunswick Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is accepting registration for the fall preschool program.
Partners at Play for 2-year-olds is held 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursdays, Sept. 18 to Nov. 20.
Terrific Threes for 3-year-olds is held noon to 2 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, Sept. 17 to Nov. 21.
AM Adventures for 4- and 5-year-olds is held 9-11:30 a.m. Wednesdays and Fridays, Sept. 17 to Nov. 21.

Fire Department hosts Family Fun Day
The North Brunswick Volunteer Fire Department will hold a Family Fun Day noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 28 at Suydam Farms, 1803 Route 27, Somerset.
Dave Bond and the Real Country Band will perform. There will be a firehouse chili cook-off, a hayride, access to the pumpkin patch, farm animals, a mega 50/50 raffle and refreshments.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for children age 12 and under, and free for children under age 5.

Ballet school to take part in Cranbury Day
Princeton Ballet School, the official school of American Repertory Ballet, will participate in Cranbury Day on Sept. 6.
Advanced students will perform at 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. in the school’s largest studio at 29 Main St. as part of the festivities.
Students will perform works by Princeton
Ballet School faculty members Mary Barton and Cheryl Whitney-Marcuard. Students will also perform excerpts from classical ballets that are coached by Maria Youskevitch, daughter of Igor Youskevitch, one of the foremost ballet dancers of the 20th century.
Kiddie Academy hosts grand opening event
Kiddie Academy, 2400 Route 27, North Brunswick, will hold a grand opening celebration 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 6.
The community is invited to attend. Planned activities include a moonwalk, slides, face painting, ballooning, a magic show, a DJ, arts and crafts, raffles and lunch.
A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 11:15 a.m.

Church sponsors trip to Resorts Atlantic City
The Fellowship Circle of the Hungarian Reformed Church, 331 Kirkland Place, Perth Amboy, will host a bus trip to Resorts Casino in Atlantic City on Sept. 21.
The bus will leave the church at noon. The cost is $25 per person, with $25 in slot play and a bagged lunch.

North Brunswick hosts Sept. 11 ceremony
The township of North Brunswick will hold a ceremony honoring Sept. 11, 2001, at 7 p.m. Sept. 11 at the memorial on Hermann Road, across from the municipal building. Hermann Road will be blocked off beginning at 6:15 p.m.
In the event of rain, the ceremony will be held inside of Linwood Middle School, 25 Linwood Place.
