Police blotter, Aug. 18-24
Margaret Brower, 47, of Manville was charged with obstruction of the law at 11 a.m. Aug. 21 on South Main Street. Police said she physically interfered specifically by closing a door on uniformed officers who were conducting an investigation. She was lodged in Somerset County Jail on $2,500 bail.
A car rolled off a car carrier at Adesa Auto Auction and hit the caller’s black Toyota pickup truck behind Walmart, it was reported at 2:52 p.m. Aug. 21.
A man was found allegedly prying up metal spikes from the Norfolk Southern railroad track near South 14th Avenue and Vermont Street at about 3 p.m. Aug. 21. The metals were found in a bucket near his personal vehicle and returned to the track. John P. Reilly, 73, of Bridgewater was turned over to railroad police.
A woman reported at 5 p.m. Aug. 21that $4,500 in cash was stolen from her mother’s dresser on North 1st Avenue.
A tractor-trailer reportedly tore down wires to a Louis Street address at 11:33 p.m. Aug. 21
Patrolman John Granahan and Sgt. Ron Gazaway went to the Monmouth County Jail at about 2 p.m. Aug. 22 to transport Catherine Strain to Somerset County Jail in default of warrants for unpaid fines. She was unable to post the required $408 bail, police said.
Michael Salsano, 25, of Somerville was arrested and charged with shoplifting goods valued at $259 from Walmart on North Main Street at 7:25 p.m. Aug. 22. He was also charged with possession of fireworks. He was taken to Somerset County Jail in default of $1,500bail.
A 55-year-old male bicyclist from Hillsborough said a 50s-ish male driver in a white Lexus intentionally hit him near Rhythms of the Night nightclub on South Main Street just before 10 a.m. Aug. 23. The area was checked, but the vehicle was not located and police are calling it a hit-and-run crash. The victim was dizzy and had a cut to his forearm, police said.
Sgt. Jeffery Petrone rendezvoused with State Police at a Wawa store on Route 202 in Readington at about 2:45 a.m. Aug. 24 to pick up Marcus Spalding, 21, of Bridgewater and take him to SCJ in default of$500 bail on a warrant.
