Residents seek school board seats

Residents who want to serve on their local school board have filed nominating petitions to run for office in the Nov. 4 election. The deadline to file a nominating petition was July 28.

Information about the candidates was provided by the Monmouth County Board of Elections,

Four candidates will be running for three three-year terms on the Colts Neck K-8 School District Board of Education. The candidates are Fredric Garber, Kathryn Gizzo, Margaret Hernandez and Irene Sessa. Garber, Gizzo and Sessa are current members of the board.

The Freehold Borough K-8 School District will have three candidates running for three three-year terms on the Board of Education. The candidates are James A. Keelan, Bruce A. Patrick and Margaret L. Rogers. All three candidates are current members on the board.

Five candidates will be running for three three-year terms on the Freehold Township K-8 School District Board of Education.

The candidates are Michael Amoroso, Thomas C. Caruso, Michelle Lambert, Jennifer Boutote Patten and Steve Wolf. Amoroso, Lambert and Patten are current members of the board.

Four candidates will be running for three three-year terms on the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Board of Education. The candidates are Giovanna Braun, Dotty Porcaro, Martin I. Spindel and Michele Stipelman.

Braun, Porcaro and Stipelman are all current members of the board.

The board has eight members from Manalapan and one member from Englishtown. The three terms that are on the ballot this year are Manalapan seats.

School board members are not paid for their service to the community.
