Maze honors Yankees’ Jeter

Von Thun Farms, in Monmouth Junction, is honoring retiring New York Yankees star shortstop, Derek Jeter, with his image cut into its five-acre seasonal corn maze.
The Von Thun family and its design consultants created the design, family members said.
"We are located in the middle of the Yankees fan base," said Cindy Von Thun at the Ridge Road farm. "Derek grew up in Pequannock, New Jersey, which is not very far from our farm."
The corn maze will be open to the public on Sept. 20, she said.
"The present site contains corn stalks that are still growing to form the maze," said Ms. Von Thun.
The maze will contain two different pathways that will lead persons through the labyrinth, and the longer path might take about one hour for a person to complete, she said.
The final road will lead the person to the words "Thanks Captain Clutch" or to Jeter’s famed uniform number "2" on a team logo background.
"No matter who you root for, everybody loves Derek Jeter," said Ms. Von Thun, when asked as to why the family has chosen to dedicate this year’s project to the beloved Yankees captain who will retire at the end of the season.
To date, the New York Yankees Media Relations Department has not commented about the project that has received much publicity via local television, radio, and internet sites.
In addition, Director of Media/Publicity Jason Zillo has not yet responded when asked if there is a chance that Mr. Jeter will venture to South Brunswick to view the corn maze,
The farm, and the Jeter corn maze, will be open for viewing from Sept. 20 through Oct. 31.
Weekday admission will be $8 per person, with weekend charges being $10.95 per person. Weekend programs will also include up to 20 farm-related activities for the entire family.
